Photobooths join in with the clown craze
With the latest crown craze sweeping across the UK, the team at Photobooths decided to “Clown around” with the features on the Apple Mac Photo Booth to come up with their scary images.
Whilst most of the office took part, there were a few team members who couldn’t face their fear of the clown faces! Apparently the clown craze has been distressing for many across the UK, according to the police.
The fear of clowns is known as Coulrophobia “Kull-rho-foe-bee-uh.” Scientists and doctors believe that it could be a result of not knowing who lies behind the excessive makeup, red nose, and hair colour. It is also believed that causes of the phobia trace back to the early 1990s after Stephen King’s adaptation of It – A horror film about a killer clown. Even the Joker from Batman Series, played by both Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger may have also contributed to people’s fears.
Whilst the clown faces aren’t perhaps the favourite facial recognition images to have at a wedding, with halloween round the corner, they make the perfect digital props for Halloween!

Born in Malta in January 1989, Maurizio has always dreamt of doing something impossible in his life. After spending 4 years in Leicester studying physics where my final dissertation project was heavily programming based I was keen to begin a career in software development. Working on Photobooths seemed like a fun and interesting place to start.
From College went into the family run business – Advertising Agency. Eventually took over the reins of the company and moved it into a more technical direction. After retirements changed the dynamic of the company we changed direction to a Direct Mailing Company specialising in digital and mailing’s for Electricity companies (MEB, British Gas, nPower). After a profitable run I felt a change was needed and so started a Programming and Consultancy Business. This eventually led me to the world of PhotoBooths and beyond.
